After years of taking Omeprazole now my insurance wont pay for it. Is there an alternative drug? Do I have to be weaned off of Omeprazole?
My insurance wont cover Omeprazole anymore?

I've been taking it for at least 10 years, if not more.. I kno that I can buy it over the counter but I'm on disability & I'm kinda strapped for cash.
Start trying all OTC until you find one that works for you.
There are 7 different types of ppi's . Omeprazole is just the cheaper of them . find out witch one of the seven works for you and is covered and heck yes you need to ween yourself off a ppi but not when switching ppi's . I take famotidine 20mg twice a day , because I don't like the way ppi's slow my digestive trac down and it works for .
There are prescription alternatives. talk with yourr doctor and see if he can find one your insurance will cover. a lot of times they will be able to tell you.
PriLOSEC OTC, Zegerid are the brand names they are available over the counter.
