I have been on 150 mg of Zoloft for 14 weeks. I've been doing well. The past week I've been experiencing insomnia. The past couple nights I've been relaxed but no sleep. Has anyone else experienced this. Do you think the serotonin is levelling out? I take 50 mg of trazadone as well. It has always worked. I'm wondering if it's too much now with the Zoloft. Melatonin always worked as well, but not the past couple nights. Advice anyone?

Sertraline blocks the action action of norepinephrine which activate sleep cycle. So alpha blockers will help to counter this side effect. Prazosin is a great option and has less side effects.
Hello mugzy. Insomnia is a normal, common side effect to taking Zoloft. In clinical studies, it effected up to 28% of users. I suggest an increase in the Trazodone. Regards pledge
I've been on Z since Dec. I had insomnia at the beginning until I was stabilized on 150 mg. which was May! I was fatigued, but the insomnia has just surfaced. I had it in check with melatonin, however it didn't do the job last night. I was relaxed but just lay there tossing and turning. I was just worried about seretonin overload with increasing the trazadone. I do know some people take up to 200 mg though. Your thoughts?
