I've been on Implanon 3 years and it was supposed to be removed in September I thought it lasted 5 Years and recently found out its only 3. I don't have the money or insurance to get it removed. Really what I'm worried about is could I be pregnant I'm realizing I'm having symptoms the same as with my 1st child before I blew it off thinking I'm just sick. I'm on birth control that's highly effective but now I wonder please help me

I've had my implanon since April of 2009. I can't afford 400$ to get it taken out. For the past 6 months or so my periods have started coming regularly again even heavy like before I had the implanon. I'm not technically late for my period yet, but this whole week I've felt so sick morning noon and night! Tonight I'm even having pains in my lower belly. I've felt pregnant before but it's always negative. I don't know what to do anymore...

I’ve been trying to get mine taking out. I got my for my grandmother but now I’m married and I want to have kids. Mine is a couple months old and I called to see if I could get mine out but because I no longer have insurance it’ll cost me $300-$600 what do I do? I don’t have that kind of money

To anyone reading; if you don't have the money to pay for removal of birth control, why are you trying to take responsibility in raising another human being? You're absolutely not ready for that at all.

If you must know I needed the money to get it removed and REPLACED with new birth control. The implanon only lasted 3 years I had mine for 7. Maybe instead of being ignorant you could offer advice for the people on here who need it!
I have a ? I was on the implant from 2009 to 2014 and I want to know how long it take to get prgo after I just got it taking and it and it way over 3 yr

I think it depends on the individual. I have had my implanon implant in for 10 years now and its still working. I have regular periods and no babies. I tried getting it taken out after 3 years but it was such an uphill struggle against doctors and the nhs i really cant be bothered any more.

This is for Jjones, jus how many years after does it work? Cuz my daughter is now 5yrs old an I was supposed to have mine taken out when she turned 3. An due to no insurance I still have mine. I called the office lady here an she said for it to be taken out would cost me $250 but another one put in would cost $400. But im also in Nebraska so States vary on prices.

Wow I'm a month past expiration and my doctors jumping up and down about using condoms until I can come in. I had a rough pregnancy with my daughter but it makes me wonder how long it still works. Especially if she's jumping up and down about condoms but I have Nexplanon.
I have had my implanon for 7months past my year mark... I wen and seen a doctor to get it removed and it was not in the same place anymore. They went so far as having me a MRI just to see if anything could be located... I'm so scared I'm thinking I'm pregnant now and after reading everything this scares me... my doctor told me that after the medicine is gone it has no effect toward preventing me from concieving and it can't harm me just sitting In my body... I dunno girlie

My Implanon implant is now just 5 years old. Had a lot of issues trying to get it removed and replaced due to lack of quality service from GP's. Me and my partner decided we'd leave it be. And still no pregnancy's for me. I do routinely check it to see if it is still in the same place, hasn't budged. Finally got an appointment to get it sort it in couple of weeks. But it's a very confusing issue.

It is very likely that you can be pregnant if not taking another form of bc.. My 3 years ran out oct 6th and I just got it removed today (nov 19th) but with no intercourse (hubby deployed) between the two dates.. That being said; I had no period for 3 years and even though the implanon was still in my arm, on nov 10th I started (light brown) for the first time.. Even though its still in your arm you can experience symptoms like pregnancy due to the hormonal changes that are occurring because its no longer working... BUT... You have GOT to get that thing out of your arm ASAP!!! Being a month after my 3 year mark my dr wasn't happy and I had to get some tissue cut that the implanon was embedded in... The dr mentioned a previous patient that took her an hour to remove the implanon because it got embedded in the woman's muscle (ouch!!) plus the "Internet" says after the 3 year mark it's more likely to break which will mean an actual surgery to remove.. So be careful and take a test to rule out pregnancy :) hope this helps!!

Hello. I have a question. When is it best to remove the Implanon before the expired date like weeks before or a month before ? and can I get pregnant in between getting it removed and getting new birthcontrol.
When you get it removed how long does it take to get your period back.

Just called in to the office today only to find out that my Implanon was 7 months expired! I'm beyond shocked & and EXTREMELY angry with the doctor's office for not even notifying me in any way, shape, or form that mine would have been expiring. What's insane is that with moving over the summer (around the time it expired) I even went in to get it checked because it got hit, they mentioned NOTHING TO ME ABOUT IT EXPIRING! I chose Implanon for birth control because it seemed like the one I would be least likely to get pregnant on... FORTUNATELY no baby here. Just makes me wonder tho.. since it expired i've had 25-30 lbs weight gain, crazy headaches, depression, horrible mood issues, anxiety & lots of issues with focusing and memory (and i'm 100% positive i'm not pregnant). I eat proper, I exercise every other day.. try to get enough sleep. Now it's going to take a month before I can have it replaced.. i'm scared.

My implanon is nearly one year expired, they attempted to take it out on minor surgery a few weeks ago but it had travelled to the other side of my arm and is embedded in muscle. They have been dragging their feet since then about taking it out again all the while I'm 20 lbs heavier despite being a healthy eater and weight lifter in fact I'm more fit now than I was when I was skinny getting it in. Couple that with severe pregnancy symptoms (multiple negative tests) pmt like I have never known, constant periods in a strange erratic cycle ( I always had a period on implanon) and I would never advocate this to ANYONE! !!

I know this has been a while now but I'm at my 3yr mark and I'm scheduled to get it removed today. I was wondering did you get yours reinserted or did you choose a different method afterwards ?

In regards to the woman being angry that her doctor did not give her warning of the implanons overdue date. It is entrely your responsibility to ensure you are up to speed with the expiry date. The doctor treats you like any other patient, it's YOUR birth control its YOUR responsibility.

To the lady pissed at your doc, your OB (legally required) gave you a little plastic card with your name on it, when you got it inserted, and when you need to get it removed. Plus you should know how many years something is effective or not. It isn't their responsibility to call, email and text every single patient reminding them to refill or remove their BC each month/day.

Wow Alicia, does your mom have to remind you when you need to eat and sleep and change your undies? Maybe it's time to take a little responsibility for your own wellbeing, if you are old enough to use birth control you should be able to, you know, think for yourself.

I just remembered to take mine out!!! I was going thru my old wallets and purses and found my card. I could have swore it was next year WTH!!! Now im scared. I still feel it on the side they put it in on so maybe it will be an easy removal. Ive had crazy mood swings, morning sickness, depression(I can sleep for 24hrs and still be tired), crazy dreams. Like my body isn't my body anymore. Im so terrified !!!

I have had my implant in for 6years I am terrified of getting it out I have asked the doctors if I will be okay to leave it and they said it will not Cause any damage to keep it in. Two years on Still not got pregnant and no period can anybody help ... “
You need to do a pregnancy test because if you ARE pregnant, you need to get the Implanon out! It may not have enough hormones to prevent pregnancy but you still dont want to expose the child to anything. If your 3 years were up in September, there IS a possiblity you are pregnant. I would be sure to use an alternative method of birth control (condoms) until you either find out if you are pregnant or until you can get another Implanon inserted or start another form of birth control. Check around to see if there is any kind of a county clinic in your area. Many places have birth control clinics that offer free or low cost birth control and you may be able to get care there. That would be your best bet. You need to get the Implanon removed whether or not you are pregnant.
If you are, you dont want to expose the child any more than you have already (studies havent shown any adverse effects but it is always best not to expose a developing baby to anything you dont have to) If you are not pregnant, you still need to get it removed because the longer it is left in the more complicated the removal can be plus you either want to have another placed or to get on an alternative method like the pill or whatever you decide. In the meantime, use condoms and spermicide because the Implanon isnt putting enough hormones into your sytem to prevent pregnancy. If you dont have access to a county clinic, try calling around to the gynecologists in your area. I'm sure someone will be willing to work with you and allow you to make payments or something.

I have had my implanon in for 5 1/2 years. I was to have surgery to have it removed but it could not be found on the ultra-sound. The surgeon and gyno told me that it was safer to leave it rather than trying to find it in surgery due to risk of infection. I started getting bleeding a couple of months ago on and off for about 2-3 weeks and nothing since. I do worry about it but have been assured by several health professionals that it is harmless. I am not sexually active and had the implant primarily due to painful periods which it really helped. Apparently, once the active hormones in the implanon wears off, my periods should go back to normal. But like I said it has been 5 1/2 years

In New York City, Planned Parenthood does do implants and vaginal IUDs. I do not know if other locations of Planned Parenthood do these procedures. You should call and check with them via phone or email.
You might be. It might work a little past its time to be changed, but you can't count on that. I would use another method of birth control until you get it changed. You might want to do a pregnancy test.
