... is there something better I could be taking? I am fifteen years of age and in good health. These moderate - severe period pains are very common on the first day of bleeding, often my stomach goes very tense and sometimes the pain is intense enough to make me vomit.
Is Ibuprofen at a 400mg dosage every 4-6 hours a good solution for moderate-severe period pains or?

I would recommend Aleve or Naproxen. When I was young, you had to get a prescription for this. It is now OTC and works well for menstrual cramps.
Ibuprofen and Aleve are both in a class of meds-NASAIDS. When I had fibroids, my gyno. Said that these meds are the best for menstral cramps and fibroids. They take away inflamation, which helps the pain. Good Luck.
Have you tried Pamprin or another over the counter period relief? Taking too many Ibuprofens could hurt your stomach.
Two aleve might help a little more. I used to spend allot of time with a heating pad when I was a teen. Thermo guard patches makes one that is for your period, and they get warm. They might help you.
By a heating pad do you mean a hot water bottle?
Well that would work to but a heating pad is pad that is electric and heats to different levels of warmth.
