Hell no fleets enemas are very bad way too much sodium in them, can cause low bun and crit that means it will mess with your kidneys and give you hi blood pressure, I used 1 1 time never again just use a good old soap suds enema or plain warm water
We don't know anything about your life, so please excuse me if I seem personal or bossy. If you are able to walk, even a little, it will help your intestines to work, and help your bowel move. A bowel and lower intestines become weak without physical exercise, along with the use of laxatives and enemas. I've found walking helps to move gas out, and food through the system, etc. Even simple stretches like lifting your arms can help your intestines move. I just had a fast and laxatives, with those bottles of stuff that clear out the whole system for a colonoscopy, so I feel for you. They pumped air into my bowel to expand it on Wed. I'm still passing some air. Can you tell us what causes your problem? If it's from opiates and meds, you'll probably get more of the same advice. If you have something like IBS with constipation the advice will be different.
I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and have been told that laxatives are a death sentence-to exercise and try to eat healthy, but they keep changing their mind about what's healthy for my type of IBS. We're here to help you, but we sort of need to know a bit more about you.
How constipated have you been, and for how long? You state you had a successful enema last night, but if you have been constipated for awhile there may be more you need to evacuate. Eat lots of fruits, drink LOTS of water, take a stool softener, a laxative - depends on your situation and why you are constipated. There can be many, many reasons for constipation. If you are on narcotic meds for pain, the constipation may be caused by a motility problem - the bowel doesn't push the feces along like it should. In this case you want to add fiber very slowly, and with a stool softener. If you add it too quickly you can end up with a bowel obstruction. If this keeps up any time at all, please - ask your doctor.
My bowels did not move for 5 days this time... but have been
irregular using various remedies metamucil, prune juice, hot water for 11/2 months. This time I had taken 2 laxatives... then the fleet enema. I believe my entire intestines are irritated & still sore. I am hoping they are getting better.
The one point about adding Fiber(metamucil ) too quickly... was possible the reason for the latest bout wit constipation and difficulty getting them to move! Thanks for your help!
You have already had the perfect answer nothing more i can say but take your stool softeners everyday stay away from things like raisins, corn and nuts cause they don't digest and can be quite hard to pass get yourself maybe prepreation h and or tucks pads as well. Have you ever had your colon tested? Good luck! Jaime
