There is no reported interaction with alcohol and Eliquis. However, all pharmaceutical companies will tell you not to take alcohol while taking prescription drugs. Your doctor or hematologist will probably have an issue with your husband drinking 6 to 8 beers a day as the medical community considers this a person who has a medical condition known as alcoholism. However, if this is a weekly total and there have not been any issues to date then I would not be overly concerned.
To my knowledge, all alcohol should be avoided when treating blood clots. I was told alcohol can be the cause of blood clots. Perhaps your doctor or pharmacist can be of better help.
My answer is no. Alcohol intake/ beer intake should be avoided at all cost while your husband is on this drug. The side effects can get quite adverse.
