I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to me and can shed some light? I’m a 44yr old female, have had anxiety and depression since my early 20s. Mostly managed well with citalopram, but around mid 2022 a series of chronic stressors came to a head and I had a mental breakdown and had to give up work. I have tried all sorts of supplements, meditation and alternative therapies to no avail. In October this year, I reluctantly agreed to try a new medication. I cross tapered off citalopram at the same time as starting on Zoloft - this was for 2 weeks. I then increased my dose of Zoloft to 100mg. After another 2 weeks I upped to 150mg. After a further 4 weeks, I upped to 200mg as I have seen little improvement in my symptoms. So all in all, just over 6 weeks properly on Zoloft. I’m not seeing any improvement in anxiety, and if anything am more lethargic and less motivated to do anything. In the last week I have also had frequent diarrhea which I understand is a side effect of this medication. So two questions- how much longer should I stick this out before trying something else? And does the diarrhoea go away. I have only been on my latest dose for 5 days so wondering how long I should give it to settle. Many thanks
How long to stick it out on Zoloft?

My daughter was a zombie on 50mg for months, they could never increase it. Her doctor put her on a different medication. It does take a good 4-8 weeks so see improvement. This med may not be the one for you. Unfortunately they’re all trial & error.
There are many reasons and contributing factors as to why Zoloft might not be working for you any longer. Diet is the primary reason the medication might be falling short as it takes time for the medication to give you the full benefit. Switching to another medication do take time to adjust especially if you are switching from citalopram to Zoloft.
It may take up to 4-6 weeks for Zoloft to fully settle with your stomach related issues.
