I've been on Lovan (fluoxetine) for nearly three weeks. Doctor started me on 10mg and upped it to 20mg 1.5 weeks ago. The side effects seem to have come since I started the 20mg and I'm wondering how long they last. Bit of nausea, loss of appetite, and loose bowel movements. Also wondering how long it takes for the medication to have full effect?
How long can side effects from fluoxetine last?

Actually, I would say that certain side effects such as sexual, could possibly last as long as you are taking the drug. It just depends on the person.
Absolutely spot on, and as you mention everyone reacts differently to meds.
Hi, Lynelle,
It's not uncommon for side effects to start or recur after a dosage increase. They generally last anywhere from a few days to 1-2 weeks.
Many people start to feel improvements in the first couple of weeks but it can take 4-8 weeks for the drug to reach a therapeutic level.
If the side effects you're having are bad talk to doctor or your pharmacist who can recommend OTC's that can be very helpful.
