i thought subutex was different from soboxone because it doesnt have the blocker. So is there a such thing as taking subutex to soon like there is with the soboxone?

Today I waited 19 hours before I took my 1st sobo, instant withdraws, so took another half. Only got worse. So I relapsed. I feel defeated and like I can't do it. I do t know what to do. I can't go on like this, that I know. Something has to give.

Is it true that if I put myself into precipitate withdraw I can keep taking more buprenorphine and the withdraws will stop

taking more will only prolong the precipitated withdrawal... trust me... normal withdrawal is awful but doesnt even come close to prec. withdrawal.. just wait til your skin is crawling and you feel like you are having the worst anxiety attack that wont stop and then your usually good to go.

Iv been tryn for the past few days to get back on subutex. Im so upset with myself for messn up again. It jus seems lik everytime i think im withdrawln enough to take it,.i end up in bad witdrawls! Iv waitd up to 14hrs n was in bad shape but still got sick. Im scared to even take it now. I really dnt kno wat to do at this point. I cant wait 24hrs, got two kids n wen im sick..im really in bad shape. I jus want to go back to bein ok again on my meds!!

Dear April, welcome to the site. Even though you have kids and think you can't wait, the reason you keep going into precip, is because you are not waiting long enough. Opiate withdrawal won't kill you, just make you wish you were dead. Please try not to be afraid, that is what makes the symptoms worse. I you successfully wait and get back on subutex, you know you will feel normal, be able to function and be thinking lots more clearly. It's like having the flu and the stomach flu at the same time and no, you won't want to work, but you can do this. If you follow the directions and wait a minimum of 24 hours from the last dose of H, and try just 2 mgs, then wait 2 hours, just whether you feel any better, or if you feel worse. If you feel worse,or if you vomit, you need to wait 12 more hours and try 2 mgs again. Once you feel better on the 2 mgs, it is likely safe to take a bit more, 2 to 4 mgs.
If you wait, and still have precip on 2 mgs, it won't be as bad as if you took a whole subutex tablet, or even more. The key is the previous opiate HAS to be off the receptors in the brain, in order to ensure precip does NOT occur. I promise the fear and the just general bad feeling you have about yourself right now, is what will make the withdrawal worse. There are simple things you can do, to help get you thru. Make sure you stay hydrated and have some Gatorade on hand. Have Tylenol and Advil on hand, see if you can get someone to keep the kids during the last 8 hours, at least, of the withdrawal. You can take Imodium the day of withdrawal. Takr not showers or warms baths. Get some videos that are funny and call on someone for support. I am not try to fuss at you, but you have to follow the directions correctly, for the subutex to work right. You can do this. We are hearing there are some H users around, that still go into precip after waiting 24 hours, so I tell people please wait 36 to 48 hours before taking a whole tablet, because obviously, there is some longer acting H out there and precip can be avoided. You could stay here for support, it will help. Best of luck, patti

Look i go through this game all the time use then sub use then sub... I usally only wait 8 hrs i make sure to get well in the night then at like 4 in the morning When im really tired i take a sub go back to sleep YES i get sick but usally its only for an hr or so.. it sucks but by the time i get up for work im at least well enough to complete the day.. i also usally take 8 to 16 mg the first dose then go lower. its different for everyone but as i said i do this every two weeks or so and thats enough time to get good and strung out... For me i would rather spend an hour really sick then spend 24 HOURS pretty sick... personal prefence

I'm excactly the same.i just hope tonights it for me n I'm ok as I'm sick of using n spending money on the stuff.ive waited until I have really bad stomache cramps n I have undilated pupils etc... sick of it too.hope you've succeeded since this post...

The wait time after using specifically heroin is different for everybody. I personally waited 18 hours after using, thougt I was in early stage of withdrawal and took an 8mg Suboxone. What a mistake. I went into p/w almost immediately for about two hours until I felt somewhat better. I relapsed and this time waited 24 long hours and still wasn't in full withdrawals but had no p/w and felt pretty good. My opionion on this is to wait at least 24 hours unless you are in heavy withdrawals before that. My rule of thumb is when I start getting the heroin sneezes, it's that time for me. I hear different opinions on subutex,most of which say you have to wait the same amount of time. It confuses me as well because Suboxone has naloxone which is basically narcan from what I understand which subutex does not have. The theory I am told is the bumprenorphine is that actuall blocker more so than the nalaxone. Best advice I can give why find out the hard way, wait till you can't take it anymore. We have had some H users recently, who went into precip even after 24 hours. What this probably means, is some h is longer acting now. It may even have something like methadone that it is cut with. I have seen too many posts from h users recently that indicated they still went into precip after 24 hours of withdrawal, so, something is going on with the H. Welcome to our site. Patti

Thank you patty, I never thought of that side of it, great feedback. The other question I have is, would it be safer for those who use subutex on the waiting period. I'm getting mixed messages on the wait time from opiates specifically heroin to subutex. Some say the wait time to subutex isn't that important compared to the Suboxone which ha the nalaxone. What is your thought there?

Dear BostonJohn, the theory is that since subutex does NOT have the second blocker med, there is LESS chance of precip, unfortunately not NO chance. We have had some people who used H, still say they had precip. I remember one post in particular, where a person said that they took it 12 hours after last use of H and still went into precip. I tell people, wait 36 hours and try 2 mgs of subutex, guage and log how you feel in 15 minute increments, if at any time during that 2 hours, vomiting occurs, stop and wait some more. If a person only takes 2 mgs and precip is going to occur, it will be less severe and last less time, than if they try to take the whole 8 or 16 mgs. If you feel some better and there is No nausea or vomiting, and you have waited the whole 2 hours, it is probably safe to take 2 mgs more. It's not perfect, but it is a pretty good test. Many people have no sympathy or empathy for H users, to me, they still are my kindred, opiate dependents.
It makes no difference to me if they are H users, or simply took lortabs for long enough to produce withdrawal when lortab is stopped. Some opiates last longer and some of this H we are hearing of lately, lasts longer, not sure why, it just does. It is supposed to be a short acting opiate, but the people who sell it, may have cut it with something else. There is some bad H out there and I would hate to see anyone suffer needlessly, or die from h. So, I do try to help where I can. Thank you for updating and responding. We have a nice group here and I would like to welcome you. Many years ago, in high school, I got to visit Boston. It was very nice. There are many tours there and my school took the same one year after year. We went to the ship in Boston harbor, and a nice tour guide named Mark, was our guid. He used the word "Y'all," to make us feel more comfortable. I thought that was very sweet of him. All us Catholic school kids waiting to throw Tea into the harbor. We thought it would be tea bags, but instead, it was several chests of tea, chained to the deck. I remember thinking how foolish we were to think they would let us sully the harbor with tea bags. thank you both very much for further helping me understand the differences between subutex and Suboxone. i too have taking both, bought off the streets, and i like subutex better. I would always getting major headaches when taking the Suboxone but never got them with the subutex. But now i have the subutex prescribed to me by a doc so i know i can stay off all those evil drugs and not have to worry about finding it on the streets! And i didnt wiat to long to take the sub yesteray morn, 12 hours or so after my last dose of heroin, and everything went smooth, actually went out with friends last night. I start out with a little peice to see if i react to it and then take larger and larger peices until i feel ok. Now i know what my dose is and its my second day and i feel great. After 2 years of abusing any opiate i could get my hands on i believe this is my ticket ot of hell. im very excited! lol

Im so glad you found what works for you,just remember to stay on subutex for as long as you need so you want go back to the bad stuff,suboxone has been a god send without that i would still be using and doing all the wrong things im very happy for you and just know you are not alone,kelly

I am in the same boat - Im afraid to take the subs that I bought cos the last time I took one I went into a bad rattle but I still think it was within the first 12 hrs. I would have a heroin habit that I cannot kick for the world, treatment, detox, inside and out and this is hell. I refuse to take methadone as it was so hard to kick before but i just wat to be clean ;)

I'm very glad for u,that ur doing well. I was doing well for about 3 mnths then got dragged back into it,im hesitating now if 14mls will be enough till tomorrow?as I want to get back on my script only,,, I'm on 18mls of buprenorphine really.do you think I should take some more if I'm still ill tonight?thanks n all the luck in the world.

I have taken suboxone and subutex but suboxone works best for me, and the waiting time is the same you have to be in withdrawal before taking the first dose of subutex,there the same its just subutex does not have naloxoen in it,but they both help great when your going through withdrawals or just trying to stay clean,hope this helps

there is no difference in the way you dose with subutex or suboxone. The buprenorphine molecule is what the opiates can't break through or the blocker as you called it. The naloxone in suboxone is a antagonist which when abuse through I.V. will throw the addict into instant withdrawals. So take it the same as suboxone...
