Lorazepam has an elimination half-life of 12 to 18 hours. The half life is used to estimate how long it takes for a drug to be eliminated from the body. Generally it takes 5.5 half-lives for a drug to be removed from the body, when it is deemed to no longer have an effect.
Therefore for lorazepam if you use 18 hours, it would take approximately 99 hours (5.5 x 18 hours) which is approximately 4 days to be removed from the body.
Elimination of a drug varies from person to person due to factors like age, weight, other medications taken, or other medical conditions present, also kidney function, liver function etc. Therefore half life is used as a guide or an estimate of how long it may take for the drug elimination.

I took three lorazepams but my next urine test will be September the 4th... should I be okay?

this is not true even being on prescription levels of lorazepam will only be in your system for 72 hours normal scrips range from 1-10 mg a day

I've had an instance where I took one 0.5mg Xanax, which is also a benzodiazepine, and it showed up 6 weeks later in a urine drug screen. Hopefully it will be gone in the seven days for you but be forwarned that it could be longer. Benzos are one drug that can stay in the system a long time.

Thanks DzooBaby, I thought benzos stayed for a few weeks :( I was hoping one wouldn't matter 5 days later, if that's all I took. Well that blows a lot of stuff for me.

That depends on each individual person. I was on 15 mg. 4x a day and it still didn't come up in my urine screening. I was monitored with my dosage and if I took them so there was no question. My concern was how they handled the urine specimens. But I also had Gastric Bypass and that causes absorbtion problems.
