in todays world they have such sophisticated tests and since they do if its a Urine screen then we are talking one thing but once the blood and hair folicle is tested as Christine says it just deptends on you and how much and how long you have been on this medication sorry wish I could give you an exact precise answer best wishes
Hi Mellie. It depends on how long one has been taking the morphine, what type of morphine, extended release, instant release, strength of the medication, and method in which it's taken (orally, Intramuscular, IV, crushing and snorting) please don't read anything in to this. It depends also on the persons level of activity and metabolism and body fat content. In my case, I'm prescribed MS Contin extended release and have been on it for at least one year. My activity level is low but I'm in the normal range for my weight. I would think within 7-10 days (if I quit today) my system would be clear. It could be as early as 3-5 days for someone taking far less. It's not an exact science. Blood tests and hair follicle tests are more precise. There's also many unrelated meds and substances that could cause a false positive too. A tylenol with codeine will test positive for the morphine metabolite.
