I have ADHD along w/ narcolapsy. i was prescribed Desoxyn 20mg years ago. I prefer Desoxyn over any other of the drugs that they use to treat these disorders. I am currently on Adderall 30mg 3 times a day and feel like I am not getting what I got when I was taking Desoxyn 20mg. I like to know if there is anything higher than the 5mgs. also how I can find this drug in my area or close by, or what pharmacies on line carry this drug
How can find a pharmacy in my area or online that carries Desoxyn?

I am prescribed the generic version of this, Methamphetamine 5 mg - 4 pills x twice a day. Walgreens or RiteAid fills it for me with a valid prescription. Sometimes it is out of stock and it takes a few days for it to come it when they have to order it.

Many, many years ago I took Desoxyn for weight loss. So many years ago I do not remember the mg. I have been taking Adderall for approx. 3 years now. I asked my Dr. last week if I could try the 'Desoxyn'. He said I'd have to stop the Adderall. I said fine, I'd like to try it due to having heard so many good things about it.
He had to look it up in his 'book'. Said he'd never prescribed it before... he then showed me what it said about desoxyn: 'it's methamphetamine'... I said I would still like to try it.
Well, believe it or not, he gave me a prescription for 60, 5 mg., 1 tab 2x a day. He said I would probably have trouble getting it filled.
He was right. I called quite a few local pharmacies, and here is all of their answers: (I told them I had the script in hand - did not give my name):
Walmart: No, we do not have it. I asked if they could order it - their answer was "NO".
CVS Pharmacy: No, we do not have it. Asked if they could order it - their answer was "NO".
Walgreens Pharmacy: No we do not have it. Asked if they could order it - their answer was YES, but it will take approx. 4-7 days to get it.
So - I called a locally owned mom & pop-type pharmacy (approx. 20 minutes away from me). I asked if they had it. He said: "can you give me your name and address?" I said sure, and did. He then put me on hold and came back and said: I have some, but they are out-dated. I can order you some - it would take approx. 3 days to get it from the manufacturer (due to it being a Friday when I called). I then had to give my age, rank and SSN. (not really quite that bad - but almost).
The following Monday AM, I received a call from the place - they had my Desoxyn waiting for me, all they needed was the prescription, and for me to bring my ID with me. Several hours later I finally drove down to pick it up. Gave them my script, they filled it within 6 minutes.
The pharmacist also told me he had 40 left of the desoxyn, and to let him know if i would continue to take them prior to needing a refill - he would need to order the remainder for my prescription (60 total). Very pleasant, eager for the business.
He also said: I have someone else taking the Desoxyn that is prescribed from the same Dr. I use. Humm... who's telling the truth here? The Doc said he'd never prescribed it before - the pharmacist said he has someone taking it from the same Dr.?
Find a local mom and pop pharmacy that would be happy to take your money. (if you have a script, of course). This particular pharmacy is owned by a fella named 'Patel' if that tells you anything... :)
I've been taking them for several days now as prescribed, and DO NOT feel anything, nothing, nil. No appetite control, etc. I did yesterday take 3 at one time, and still there was not much difference. I may go back to the adderall. I am guessing I have a tolerance build-up due to the Adderall?
Good luck, and keep trying your locally owned pharmacies. The big pharmacy companies do not want to bother. It being methamphetamine, no one wants the hassle nor problems.

Desoxyn is hard to obtain now but WAS THE BEST drug for Narcolepsy and related symptoms. Depended on the Dr's experience with this type of problem. Anyway the original co. - who made it in tablet and time release caps - started over 50 years ago - must have decided thet were making enough money and quit.. Kinda left us patients out in left field. Nothing else has been as good, although several have approached the same high price on comparable drugs. If you look in a PDR or drug book I think another co. has picked up the 5 mg tablets but without even checking I'm sure they carry a high price.
I used 1-15 mg cap (time release) and 4-5 mg tablets for 40 years. Never changed dosage and was able to stop cold when the army drafted me with no apparent adverse side effects. So the GOV/CORPORATE conspiracy rolls on with legiate users being the victim.

Thank you for your comment. Sorry it took me so long to get back w/ you. I need to clean up the 9,000 e-mails I have. Just kidding. You mentioned you took a capsule. Was that Desoxyn. Do you still take Desoxyn? If not what have you replaced it with, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks RippenMom
