I am in a lot of pain and been trying to clear out old medicine to see if I have any pain relievers and found my tramadol but it expired August 29 of 2016. Is it still safe to take and is it still effective? Thank you
Is it ok to take tramadol 50 mg that expired in August of 2016?

Personally, if it were mine, I'd probably take it if I needed it. That's about 7 months past exp date so there is a chance it has lost some strength.
Tina; as long as it is prescribed for you and if you look good at the label the chance are that it was filled 6 months to one year from that ex. Date. many pharmacies don't really put the exact date on the bottle they put a date 6 months from the fill date. And Tramadol does have a long shelf life so if it was mine I would feel good about taking it. But if in dought call your doctor and see if you can get a fresh bottle. but really that would be a waste of money you're going to get the same thing. just remember to take it exactly as prescribed on the bottle. no more!!!
Ok thank you so much! I just had to go to the doctor anyways because I'm sick on top of it. Fever and very bad sinus infection and yuckiness so I had to get antibiotics but she asked if I had some pain meds and i said yes because I don't use them unless I really need them. This is one of the cases. I've had migraines for 4 days straight and no sleep really so I'm glad I went to the doctor and kept my tramadol. She told me too I can take them but if it's really bad take 2 of the 50 mg. But idk if I will unless really needed. I don't like medicine. I already take way too much as is because of my health. Ugh but thank you so much. I am very grateful.
Not a problem at all Tina, But just be glad the medicine is here when we need it. Make sure with the antibiotic that you take those until they are all gone or you could defeat the purpose of taking them you want to make sure that the infection is all gone. If you think your good and stop chances are it well come back and you won't have enough to help you. hope you get to feeling better very soon.
