Had my son 11/15/12. Got the Nexplanon put in on 12/27/12. My hair has started falling out in the beginning of March, and has not stopped since. Freaking out. I have lost about 1/3 of the hair on my head. It isn't very noticeable, but my hair definitely thinner. Is anyone having/had this experience?

I had my son nearly two years ago i got the nexplanon few months after having my son . my hair has been suffering there’s literally a few strands left. I had the thickest hair possible and now it seems like s few threads over my scalp. Is there something I can’t take alongside the implant that help to o over come the side effect
Read my post and remove the implant asap
I’ve had Nexplanon in since Jan 2017. In May 2018 I’ve started to see large patches of bald spots through my hair. I’ve had 12 kids and I can say normal hair loss post pregnancy is not as drastic as I’m seeing. Which I believe is being caused by the Nexplanon. It is the only difference from my last pregnancy and all other pregnancies.
Nexplanon took my hair out severely!!! It does cause hair loss. My hair has patches and bald spots. I've never lost so much hair. I'm mad because it's not listed as a side effect. But it should be. Working in getting it out immediatel

I got nexplanon May 2016. Last time I have proof of curly hair was June 2016 (due to pics I have of my hair). Therefore I am assuming my hair changing from curly to thin wavy happened around 3-6 months after my Nexplanon insertion. Not only is my hair thinner but it is no longer curly!!! I have proof I had curly hair since I was born with it and I have hundreds of pictures. It is now just a memory... I mean what else could it be? I really believe it is due to Nexplanon. I miss my curly big hair! Now it wavy... thin... and flat. Hoping when I take it out hair will go back to normal. It has been a year and a half now.
Yes and it's making me nervous
I've had it since May of this year. Just decided to see if it was a side effect or not. My hair is coming out bad. Calling tomorrow to see if I can get a date for removal
I have lost a lot of hair since I have gotten this. I had it taken out after having it in for 7 months. Have had it out now for 5 months and I am still losing my hair. Lost the weight I gained but I haven't stopped losing my hair. I wish hope and pray I could. It's bad... really bad.
I have experienced hair loss and hair thinning ALOT when i first got it put in, it is not very noticeable because my hair is thick, but around the edges and middle i can absolutely feel the thinness. Now it is not as bad and i have had it in for almost 2 years, my doctor claims this is not a side effect but i believe there is no other explanation
I got the nexplanon in April of 2016 and I have been experiencing hair loss also. I need to know what will make my hair back thicker. Never and this problem until the birth control. My son is only 18 months. Help!!!
My is falling out really fast! I want to get this removed ASAP! How long does the medicine stay in your body after nexplanon is removed?
my doctor told me once it is removed the medicine leaves the body almost immediately
Did you take the nexplanon out and did it help
No. I believe it's due to the pregnancy not the nexplanon. My hair loss has gone down a lot in the past few months.
My hair is falling out since two weeks I am sure its nexplanion and I took it out but I am scared the shedding won't stop its really severe
Did you have a baby? Or did you just get the BC?
No I recently got married and had the BC and after 4months of it having it my hair started shedding suddenly. I woke up and ran my hand through my hair and I had loads of hair on my hand. Searched on the Internet and suspected It was the nexplanion. Got it removed after two weeks of shedding. This is my fourth week now the shedding has not stopped after removing. Loads of women had the same issue. But I couldn't find any comment about whether the shedding would stop or will it stay like this now I feel like I am going bald and its affecting my new marriage life I am so depressed all the time. I have even took time of work because I can't cope with it. I have just turned 22 I dont want to lose my hair
If you're concerned about it you should go see a doctor. The hormone from the birth control will stay in your system for a little longer after you take it out, so that might be your issue. I'm not a doctor though. So I would go see one. Especially if this is making you depressed. And try to find a shampoo that thickens your hair. That's what I'm using. They make your hair appear thicker.
Which shampoo do you use
I delivered my bb on Feb 2014, had nexplanon inserted on april. From april until the end of june I was spotting (non-stop) july first week it finally stopped. Now my hair started to fall off! I've always had thick as in thick hair but now it really feels like i've lost half of it already. i'm scheduled tomorrow for removal because I really can't bare with this. i'm so afraid too that my hair won't stop falling in an instant, Hoping that it will though.
Hello I took the nexplanon out and two months after my haor shedding stopped completely by itself. Its all growing back now I have got alot of small baby hair luckily my hair is really thick so it wasn't noticeable except for myself. It took me good two months. I thought it wouldn't stop even after Itook it out. Please take it out. And use natutal oils on your hair to promote hair growth. I know how it feels. Its a time I will never forget.
I got the Nexplanon July 2013 and about 3-4 months later noticed significant hair loss. I am debating getting it removed as well. My gynecologist said it wasn't the birth control, but that is the only change in my life. I have never had kids and I'm not pregnant. I am hoping that my hair will come back like it was if I get it removed. Not sure what birth control to use. I am 38 so I don't want to take the pill due to increased risk of blood clots. My doctor said that the Nexplanon could definitely be causing the hair loss. I have read many stories online like this about women losing their hair due to the Nexplanon. Is there a good, highly effective birth control that won't cause hair loss or increased risk of blood clots? Was thinking about the copper IUD or Esure if I can get insurance and if they will cover it.
Hey so I had my son 9/1/14 and got the implant late October for 2 weeks I had a heavy period and then it went away about 2-3weeks ago I started losing my hair whenever I put my hair thru my hands 15-20 strands are on my hand my hair is thick too so u can't really tell but I can. I thought it was stress at first but now I am convinced it's this. Gonna get it removed and think about getting the Nuva ring back
A woman's hair follicles do not shed as fast when she is pregnant and then on average about three to four months after giving birth, she will shed those hairs. It is from the pregnancy not the Nexplanon. It is from the hormone changes.
Thank you. Do you know when it will stop?
Nexplanon does make your hair fall out! My hair fell out normally until abput a month or two after i got it and it only got worse! My baby is almost 4 ive had the implant in for almost 3 years now... I have read online it is one of the rare side effects about a year and a half ago. I lost 20 pounds on it and my face is horribly broke out and oily now. But yes... My hair never fell out this much until shortly after i had the implant put in.
When did it stop falling out? Iv also gone on implant and my hair has fallen out! I am gutted! It's all at the front of my head 2
I want to know too if my hair will ever stop falling out.. I got my nexplanon in Feb 2016 in mid March I noticed my hair falling out at the front n then growing back out but still losing alot of hair. A couple of days ago I noticed my hair falling out again at the front.. I used to cry at first then felt bttr when it started growing but now again falling out!!!
YES it is the Nexplanon. I had he same issue. Lost 1/3 of my hair... and had my period 298 out of 365 days last year. Get it out of your body!!! It is not worth the risks associated with it.
I agree it is hormonal postpartum especially, however, adding hormones to your body after such a traumatic/dramatic experience to the body overall (yes, meaning pregnancy, your body does take a big hit overall), is not a good idea. Perhaps i should have waited 6-9m after I had my baby. I am telling you, based off my experience, once I took out the implant, my hair fell out LESS. Now I am taking herbal supplements to strengthen my immune system and well being and I am seeing a vast difference this past month. I am 5m postpartum.
