So many of the generic Zoloft drugs are manufactured in China. I have had terrible side affects from various generic Zoloft drugs manufactured in China. Greenstone's generic Zoloft (Sertraline) has been fine. Greenstone used to only manufacture their generic products in the USA. For the last 4 months or so, my taking 100mg of Greenstone's Sertraline, I have started having some of those same side affects. Where are they being manufactured today? China?

Paula808; Also a pretty easy way of finding out is to call your pharmacy and ask one of the Pharmacists or the technician's if they can pull a bottle of Greenstone Sertraline 10mg off the shelf and they have right on the bottle where it comes from. Let me give you one other hint since you are having trouble finding or with the new greenstone. I have been messing with this for over an hour. And seen the same complaint from many people Here could help you all of these people that said they were having trouble with the Greenstone brand. Are using CAMBER Pharma.THIS BRAND AND ARE SAYING it is as good as the greenstone or better. Now if a chain store well not order if for you to try to call a few pharmacies if you have Insurance call an Independent pharmacy they almost always well special order so it is more a flat pill made by CAMBER Pharma. and the last thing everyone is complaining about a company that starts with Auro??? more letters but that are all I can remember so you want to try CAMBER Pharma. company and these post were off FDA site call around and find that company then you can give them your prescription number from the pharmacy your at and they well call them and get the refills if it has them on it or they well call your doctor. Trust me to skip looking for greenstone right now they must have changed the binders or manufacture making it for them. good luck
Hi Chuck,
Thank you so much for the information. It is very helpful and hopeful. I did not know about CAMBER Pharma. I am going to research and your suggestion to call the pharmacy regarding where this Greenstone is Mfg. is such a great idea. I know they used to be made in USA, but I am thinking that is no longer. I will let you know what I find out. Again, thank you so much.

Hi Paula-
Your question is complex. As an example, Pfizer contracts with Greenstone and Aurobindo to manufacture their drugs. These companies can manufacture brand and generic drugs in foreign countries. Many of the brand names and most of the generics are not made in the US anymore. It is a complex trail. You can call Greenstone and ask where Sertraline is made (800-447-3360) but they do not have to tell you. Or they can tell you it 'comes' from the US but avoiding the question of where the drug or ingredients are actually made. They can have the med made in foreign countries and then put their own label on it once it reaches their US plant. This is a common practice among most large Pharm companies now. There is also a margin that is allowed in the making of the generics. When someone tell you that the generics and brand names are exactly the same, they are not. Do the research. They can also add inert ingredients and additives, that some patients react to.
The FDA has stepped up it's efforts after many patient complaints, but it took years. You can contract he FDA to submit a complaint but even that is not easy. They are far from being able to test every drug coming out of a foreign country like India and China.
The only thing you can do is try to find a generic that works for you and request the pharmacy order that for you. You may have to go to several pharmacies to find it. The burden is put on the patient to find one that works.
Some people on this site will give you % of what the Pharm companies can fudge on, but until they get the drug tested by an independent research lab they do not really know.
We can no longer be so naive about where the drugs are manufactured and that the FDA quality/standards are adhered to.
There have been too many complaints from doctors and patients about drugs for it to be a random act.
