I, too, had terrible anxiety when a psychiatrist put me on 20mg Fluoxetine. That was a mistake because severe anxiety was my problem to begin with. I was supposed to take Propanol for it... which never touched it! I went to my GP and he gave me clonazepam which I’ve had for years for emergencies. I got off the Prozac and went on Mirtazapine for sleep and appetite (lost 10 lbs in two weeks!). I’m improving but still need small amounts of clonazepam during the day. At most I’ll take a total of .25mg in small doses. That’s a big drop from the 1mg/day when I started on the Prozac. My son is doing great on Prozac, but his issue wasn’t anxiety... it was for depression.
You should discuss with your doctor. But in the meantime, have you seen any improvement during those 4 weeks?
The therapeutic dose for Prozac(Fluoxetine) is 20-80mg. You still have room to tweak the dose. As I said above, speak with your doctor, okay? He/she will know what to do. Also, it takes 6-8 weeks for this specific medication too become fully effective. This may not be enough to help you but I wish you the best.
