I get 15 patches every month. My perspiration is terrible if I move around a lot and then my patch seems to fall off. When this starts, how can I make it stay on? I seem to loss them often and have to put a fresh one on.

The key is the first 20 seconds right after you put the patch on. You have to press strongly on the patch with a warm palm and hold it pressed firmly for 20 seconds. If you do that on a clean skin, it will not come off. I sometimes warm my hand as hot as I can stand directly above the flame of my stove burner and I place the patch on the side of my leg and press with the hot palm. I can not get it to come off even in a swimming pool.
Bla bla bla .you obviously dont work or move around all day. Also some people have oily skin all u said is what the instructions on the patch package says.if ur going to comment about this stuff get nformed u just sound stupid
Sundays is the stupid one. Wash the oil off your skin or take a bath. We have 2 cancer patients in our house and both have fentanyl patches. Do not apply when sweaty, wet, or over a lot of body hair. DO NOT PUT A BANDAID OR REGULAR ADHESIVE TAPE over the patch or the result will be a burst of the drug due to over heating the patch with your own body heat. Your directions or your pharmacist can direct you to a special tape that breathes and CAN BE USED.
That is Sundawgs not Sundays
This doesn't work for everyone. I just started this and had no problem with the first one. Second one started coming off right away. Not everyone is the same.
Tegaderm is the waterproof transparent adhesive you wanna use. It's breathable and stays on for 7 days.
sundawgs You might have a little more creditability if you weren't so freakin' rude.
thank you so much for an educated answer, I have been putting patches commonly used for ports when you put lidocaine on it prior to a procedure.. thought what the hell maybe I should read some of these inserts that come with all my meds, of course after I covered the patch. Now I know why but can't afford to remove the patch due to strict prescription amounts. I know to cut the middle out next time and just tape the edges.. thanks again.. and hey you... giving uninformed and uneducated information to people seeking answers is not only irresponsible but may carry liability ... ever think of that part???
Your 20 second application does not help me one bit.
Number 1, you need to secure a new patch when applying it, so you do not lose it.
Number 2, apply Hypafix® tape (4 in x 10 yds Roll), it sells at Amazon for $13.64. I just cut off 3 inches from the roll (you will have a 4 inch by 3 inch rectangle of the tape), cut a square in the middle with a razor blade just the size of the medicine part of the patch. Clean your skin where the tape will be going and apply the tape over the patch. I have no idea why the manufacturer of Fentanyl says it is very important not to cover the entire patch with tape, but that is why I cut a square in the middle of the tape. ***Hypafix tape is fantastic, IT WILL NOT COME OFF UNTIL YOU TAKE IT OFF. Plus it is very good for people that have sensitive skin.
I go to my pharmacy at my oncologist and get the cover they use for ports and something called V.A.C. standing for Vacuum Assisted Closure I can guarantee you there will be nothing that gets under that my Home Health Nurse brought it to my attention
As others have stated, a WARM palm makes all the difference in the world. I used a heating pad to warm my palm prior to pressing on the patch and after 3 days it was still rock solid tight.
