I started Lexapro 6 days ago for anxiety but every day it seems to make my anxiety even worse to the point where it’s almost unbearable today. I know SSRIs can make things worse before they get better but how much longer will it be until I’m ‘over the hill’?

Stay away from Benzos. You can get dependent in as little as 2 weeks if used every day
Very true! They can also cause severe short and long term side effects.
Hi, adors!
Side effects generally resolve over days to a couple of weeks... but they should lessen daily rather than making matters worse.
If that's the case and the increased anxiety is interfering with your life let your doctor know right away. You don't mention what dosage you're taking but it may be you'd do better on a lower dose temporarily while your metabolism adjusts to the drug. Another option might be a mild sedative to use for a few weeks until the Lexapro fully kicks in.
If you can hold out for a bit longer with either of those options I think you'll find that Lexapro really is a great choice for anxiety disorders. You should start seeing some improvements very quickly now.
PS, Call your doctor... there's no reason to suffer needlessly.
Thanks Wildcat! I’ll definitely call my doctor
