... in a mature male? I take this medication for anxiety but am wondering if it is a negative for sex? Am interested in what any of you know about this, even if you (or someone you know) takes this drug for some other purpose.

Ritalin causes an increase in the neurotransmitter dopamine which often will increase sexual arousal. The problem is that if you take too much it can create anxiety which can have a "cold swimming pool effect". If you are taking a reasonable dose it shouldn't be a problem. One thing I noticed is that dopamine levels spike quite quickly after you take it and that can cause premature ejaculation. So you might want to wait an hour or so after you take it before sexual activity.
Hello Anonymous. In reading up on your question, I could find nothing to suggest that ritalin effects libidio in any form. That of course does not mean that the problem does not exist, its just not been reported, by users, and or through clinical trials and studies. You might ask your doctor or pharmacist to confirm or get thier opinion. Best wishes,
