I have only joined this group today & I don't know which way to turn. Hoping somebody can please help me. I will try & condense it. Pain in my knee started February 2022. Got progressively worse until June 2022 when I fell off a stool measuring curtains. Since then I am in constant pain. Hospital said sciatica, the GP definitely osteoarthritis. 18 month wait for orthopaedic triage. Went private. Consultant says its not sciatica or arthritis, probably bursitis, nothing he can do. I have to live with it. Lose weight & do physio. Bye bye. I am 64 & feel 84. I can hardly walk, I cry with the pain & cannot sleep as I can't straighten my leg. Is this my life now for the next 20/25 years. Doesn't seem worth living. Thank you. Jayne
I am at the end of my tether?

When I went to the pain management doc my GP referred me to he was a quack! Go on the web and search those near you and read reviews, especially the bad reviews! That is how I found a good one. It turned out the one my GP referred me to take my doc and his staff out to lunch every month.
I have tried most pain meds out there. The most effective one for me is methadone. It is more effective than fentanyl.
Has anyone ordered an MRI of your spine? That is how they will know if it is a lower spine issue causing the pain. With your knee, it could be bone spurs. I had a minor issue with that, and in certain positions, the pain was terrible.
Good luck, and I hope they find the diagnosis. It took me a year and a half to find mine.
Thank you. Yes I've had an MRI on my back. No problems there. Awaiting the result of an MRI on my knee. I think I need stronger pain relief. You are very kind responding.
I would ask your GP to refer you to a pain management dr. There are options for your pain. As unlikely as it seems, physical therapy may very well help you. Knowing the correct exercises to use, in conjunction with pain management, can do quite a bit to improve your quality of life.
Thank you Lisa. If I can get a GP appointment I will ask for that.
