I'm taking levothyroxine and a few other medications and vitamins. I'm supposed to take levothyroxine on an empty stomach, so I wait an hour before eating. Does it also have to be an hour before taking other medications?
Does take on empty stomach mean no other medicine at the same time?

I’ve taken levothyroxine for years now. I hate the inconvenience of having to take it an hour before taking my other meds or eating. A nurse told me, only after I defiantly began taking my levothyroxine with my other meds and food, that it’s fine to do that. Just talk to your doctor about it well in advance of your next TSH check so your test results will not be a shocker, and your meds can be adjusted accordingly.
I wait 4 hours for any other medication or vitamins. Thyroid medication has a very narrow therapeutic index, meaning even the slightest decrease or increases can affect you. Therefore to avoid that i take it by itself, and anything else at least 4 hours away. That’s how I do it.
I take NP Thyroid My endocrinologist says to take on empty stomach with full glass of water wait an hour before eating or drinking anything but water Dr also says not to take vitamins or antacids for 4 hours after taking thyroid med I take my vitamins after dinner now instead of breakfast If you eat or drink before an hour your thyroid med doesn't have time to absorb so it won't work same as not taking it I speak from experience Hope this helps
