What supplements and vitamins can not be taken wit eliquis
I’ve only been on Eliquis 5 mg since June 16 of this year. I’m taking my usual medication’s and vitamins that I was previously on. I am told I’m not able to start any new supplements that I’ve not been on for example, collagen, hair and nails vitamins, and most especially no anti-inflammatory drugs, which are the worst cause I have a lot of pain in my hands, neck and my jaw with TMD. I am 62 years old, female. I have taken Aleve on occasion when I cannot stand the pain any longer. It has not caused any problems. The next day I feel even better having taken the Aleve. My doctor quoted that I can take Aleve or Motrin quote “here and there” unquote. When absolutely necessary. If I do take the Aleve or Motrin, I make sure it’s several hours after I take the Eliquis, that seems to work the best. Hope this helps someone.
Forgive me because I am new to the world of blood thinners. I had a DVT and PE in the last month, and when I was in the hospital I was put on a Heart healthy diet with no salt. I was on Heparin IV, then switched over to Warfarin, then to Eliquis. I've been reading a lot and it's been hard to figure out a answer. So far I learned to stay away from natural blood thinners. Why increase the chance of bleeding right? Grapefruit you want to avoid all together. Today I learned that people are experiencing higher Blood Sugar readings while on this medication. So my plan of action is to eat a heart healthy diet, avoid sugar, and try to include a small amount of cranberry juice daily to help with liver function. I hope this might help someone.
My mom was told that she has NO food restrictions while on eliquis. I wanted her to start taking turmeric for cough and congestion and he said it's perfectly fine. She's been doing fine with turmeric and is so happy that she can eat anything... Except grapefruit. Hope this helps!
