I have been taking Lexapro for 3 weeks now. Not a lot of side effects and not a lot of effects. I think I feel a little better now but not sure. The first 18 days I was on 5mg and now on 10mg for 3 days. Is it normal that I do not feel a lot better yet (I read these amazing reviews and am a bit worried)?
Effects Lexapro after 21 days?

Hi, Pete!I think this blurb from the National Alliance on Mental illness may help answer some of your concerns:
"How Long Does It Take For Escitalopram To Work?
Sleep, energy, or appetite may show some improvement within the first 1-2 weeks. Improvement in these physical symptoms can be an important early signal that the medication is working. Depressed mood, anxiety, and lack of interest in activities may need up to 6-8 weeks to fully improve.
Everyone responds differently to this type of medication so it's hard to say what's "normal". 5mg is a low initial dose that may have been prescribed to help your system slowly adjust to the medication with no or minimal side effects. But 10mg - 20mg is the standard maintenance dose which may be why you haven't felt significant improvement... yet. It should start happening faster for you now so try to be patient and keep a positive attitude.
In my opinion, after 7 years on Lexapro I have to say that it's an excellent choice for both depression and anxiety.
Best regards and I hope it works as well for you as it has for me.

I will. Thank you very much WildcatVet. Very much appreciated
Hello,
I’ve been on Lexapro for a long time. From my experience and from what doctors have told me is that it could be up to 6 weeks until you start seeing improvement. Lexapro maxes out at 20 mg. (For you med experts, I know some docs that go higher than that). So you possibly might need to go up. Please keep consulting with your prescriber as you continue taking it. Please Let them know how your feeling and tolerating the med. They can adjust accordingly. Best of luck to you. Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks Jimmy
