I find the drug quetiapine very helpful at stabilising my mood. However I have gained so much weight on this drug I was wondering if there are any alternatives I could try.
What drug can I take instead of quetiapine?

@Lisa.
What are you being treated for? Bipolar? Sleep issues? Or?
Are you having problems with side effects or is the quetiapine not working well for you?
Sorry, so many questions...
what drug can I take instead of seroquel?
I am bipolar too, been on many meds since I was in my early 20s, I am 52 y/o now, and from my experiece mainly all antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, etc., tend to make one gain weight.
I started gaining weight in my early 30s, started working out hard at the gym, and a hypo-caloric diet, I am quite strict, continued training, until the pandemic. Continued my diet and bought a spinning bike and continue to train and one has to have discipline, make sacrifices. I am fit both mentally and physically, I would like to believe!
I take Seroquel and Zyprexa for a long time been on these two.
I suggest you discuss the alternatives with your Psychiatrist, what may work for me , may not work for you, plus he/she knows your background and can be more assertive.
