There are no food interactions listed for ibuprofen. The only thing that this site warns against is taking ibuprofen with a NSAID. It would not be affected by milk or other calcium or aluminum based antacids.
oops, forgot to mention that drinking alcoholic beverages while taking ibuprofen is not recommended as it can adversely affect the GI tract.
Thanks Laurie. I heard this about milk and Ibuprofin in Cajun country-Gulf Coast-part of it might be that milk and some Gulf seafoods can cause iodine poisoning-is in medical journals. There're some areas in the Gulf that are particurly iodine rich. It's always good to check for local anomalies caused by local conditions-as excessive iodine in seafood. South of Houston many restaurants refuse to serve milk with seafood, because of the lawsuit aspect. Herein NM, we had kid's teeth rotting from floride treatment. Excessive floride can cause big time tooth decay. I was part of a group that got the local school district to stop this horrible practice. I paid for independent lab tests on the water-that showed the water had high levels of floride to begin with. Then it snow-balled in the state, and they stopped forced floride treatment. I told my doctor that when my thyroid is low, I crave seafood.
He was puzzled until I pointed out that seafood-especially Gulf Coast-has lots of iodine. Then it clicked. It's possible that anomalies in a local diet can cause side effects in otherwise benign meds and procedures.
You can take Ibuprofin with antacids, but they reduce the effectiveness of Ibuprofin and some other medications. I've always heard that milk and Ibuprofin don't go together. Once I was trying to do that, and after a fews weeks I felt like I was kicked in the stomach. I was thinking that milk would soothe my stomach. If you don't have stomach trouble, you can eat what you want. I was drinking lots of milk- since then my stomach became extremely sensitive to Ibuprofin- Are you asking because your stomach is bothering you. Also this site has a way of checking medications and food interactions. Just go to the drug or medicine tab-and do a search for Ibuprofin. Good luck
