Milk of Magnesia is another name for Magnesium Hydroxide.
Mylanta contains Calcium Carbonate and Magnesium Carbonate.
Both preparations contain different ingredients but are used to treat the same symptoms.
Both preparations are antacids and are used to treat acid indigestion, heartburn, and sour stomach. Milk of magnesia also helps to stimulate the bowels to move and is used for constipation.
Thank you for your explanation. Actually, I was advised to give 2 grams of Mylanta to my horse. The magnesium will possibly help him in his mineral balance. My hubby purchases MoM rather than Mylanta and I wanted to be sure it would have the exact same effect. Any other comments?
Thank you!
