I have been on Lexapro for 6 weeks now and although it has helped quite a bit with the depression I am still experiencing anxiety, especially in the morning. I shake like crazy and the only thing that helps is xanax. Of course I don't want to continue taking that! My doctor has suggested upping to 20 mg. What are your experiences with that and did it increase your anxiety for a while or any other side effects?

I was started out on Lexapro 10 mg and then increased to 20 mg for my depression. I found after my physician increased my Lexapro to the 20 mg, there was a big differance in my depression and helped with my anxiety as well. I have been on Lexapro for a while and would recommend you giving it a try since you dont want to continue the Xanax. It helped me and I hope it will help you too. Sandy

after starting the 20 mg I noticed a differance within 10 days for me.

20 mg of Lexapro has not helped my anxiety in the least. Been on it now for almost 6 weeks, and the anxiety seems to be getting worse (there is a situation at work that doesn't help matters, but still... I thought the Lexapro would help with the anxiety too. I'm going to give it a little more time, because my doc wants me to eventually stop taking the Ativan for the anxiety.

I checked and Lexapro is for Anxiety to, so increasing dose should help

Just for your information,
I take Clonazepam with my anti-Depressant. Clonazepam is used just for Anxiety.

I take Klonopin, for the mid-day anxiety. Usually only a 1/2 tab works just fine. The increase in Lexapro for me went from 10 mg to 20 mg and then to 40 mg... I lost all care and reason for doing anything... a dull and numb emotional state. I am trying to get off the lexapro and still take Klonopin as a prn. and that is even in a reduced state and not needed as much.
