I've started taking this medication this week, but I have dysphagia so I asked my psychiatrist if I can cut it or split it to swallow it since I struggle, he said it was safe. But when I Googled details about the medication people say it's not recommended to do so, and that it's a risky procedure. Should I keep taking them like this? should I change my meds? Thanks in advance.
Is desvenlafaxine safe to cut?

Hi, raphina!
You're right... it's generally not recommended to split or crush unscored tablets because if you split them you can't be sure of the dosage in each half and if you crush them it may release too much medication at once potentially causing side effects.
But given your condition your doctor probably feels that the benefit of getting the medication down outweighs the possible risk.
Just a thought... can you swallow soft foods? I'm thinking of hiding the pill in a spoonful of applesauce or yogurt?
Thank you for your comment! so far I haven't felt bad luckily, but it's barely my first week on it, I'll keep track of how I'm doing and if I start to have any really bad side effects I'll tell him about it. You're right, I think he probably thought it was worth the risk. I can! I'll try that and see if I don't feel the pill going down. Once again thank you so much for your advice :)
