I'm 25 years old and had my last shot of Depo in January of this year. I was on Depo for about 6 years. It really messed up my body - 4 years without a period followed by 2 years of non-stop bleeding was not a good time. It's been over 6 months without Depo now and I'm trying to get pregnant. My period finally returned fairly normal over the past 3 months. Has anyone had any success getting pregnant after Depo? I sure haven't and I'm petrified I never will... :(

PLEASE HELP ??? Hi I'm 26 I was on depo for 5 years and never had period while I was on it I stopped taking it in October last year and still haven't had my period my dr told me if I haven't had it in 6 months to go back to her and see if she can give me something to help ? , also before I was taking it I was 17 when I got my 1st period and didn't get my period regularly like other girls, I used to get it every 2 or 3 months for 1weeks. Is this normal ? Next question i have had epilepsy since I was 2months old I was on Epylim until I was 20 then went onto Lamictal because I was gaining weight I have now lost 4kg in 6weeks which quiet happy about :) .

It can take 18 months for fertility to return after Depo. Periods can be irregular for quite a long time, once you do get your bleeding again.
If you want to try to balance your hormones, you can try taking Agnus Castus (from most health food stores). Worked for me within a month or two. Had been off Depo 1yr & bleeding was very irregular.
I was on the depo shot from the age 17-19 years old. I got off of my depo shot during the month of February and then had my period again in November, so it took me 9 months until I had my period again and that was the year of 2008. After I had my daughter in 2010 I got back on the depo, and I got off of it either in September or October of 2013 and my periods came back really fast, and I am shocked that it did. Because last time, it took forever! I have now had like 3 or 4 since I have been off of it. I guess it depends on your body. Hope this helps you out.
Anybody that can help??? I am 27 yrs old I was on Depo for about 6 mths. I have been off Depo for exactly 6 mths now and i still dnt have my period!! I've also tried getting pregnant and NOTHING!!! For the past month I have been feeling tired, cramping and tenderness in my breast. I'm confused can it be that i am possibly pregnant or might be getting my period??? I have no spotting. I have also takes a lot of tests and they come up negative!! Anybody know what might be happening to me???
Don't be discouraged! It can take up to 18 months for your body to return to normal after being on depo. Especially after being on it for a few years. And I know many people who successfully got pregnant after being on it. I am in a similar situation though, so I have been where you are. I was on depo for 9 years. I've been off of it 2 1/2 years now and still haven't gotten pregnant. However, it took 2 years for my periods to go back to normal. I hope my story doesn't discourage you. I have faith that I WILL get pregnant one day. :) But, if I were you, I wouldn't worry until being at least 18 months depo free. The ovulation kits are a giod udea as well. I'm thinking of trying one myself! And, you can always go see your gyno, they have the most information for you!! Good luck to you!!! And I will add you as a friend in case you want to talk privately. Love and prayers, Key
thank you key28, i have been discouraged much as I was on Depo for more than a year and thought i was infertile after i stopped for a year and found out i couldnt get pregnant how hard i tried to. However, your advice gives me more encouragement that I am not infertile as I had 2 kids before my Depo and i beleive i will get pregnant one day. Thank you.
Well I been on then four years n been off bout 2months n I was thinking it mess me up from havin any more kids but I dont no wat to belive now
I was on birth control pills and the depo shot for 8 years. Ive been trying to get pregnant but nothing has happened and ive been getting really worried that i may not be able to have babies at all. I was on birth control on and off tho for those 8 years. My last shot was september of 2014. And im still not pregnant. Please, i could take some advice please.
well I my last shot of depo was in may of this year and i have been on since. I just had a normal regular period last month and now i am 2days late for my next period so i think i might be pregnant. But have you experience that before! if not i really do not think that it takes about a year unless you have gotten your depo on a steady pattern.

Hi I have a question regarding the depo I have been on the depo since June of 2012 I got my last shot May 2014 and I have been having sex with my partner but he does the pull out method could I still get pregnant? I just started bleeding and not like my period because this blood stops and then starts back up it has been going on for a week now and I don't really know what it is caused from every time I wake up I feel nauseous but nothing comes up not refreshed I have real bad pain in my abdominal area and my lower back hurts I have mood swings a lot and I don't know what is wrong with me is there a way anyone could help me with this situation? My friend said I couldnt be pregnant but I am worried. Please let me know thanks
Please don't stress the above answers are correct, since your period is normal now, you can buy a ovulation kit at the pharmacy and follow the directions, as long as you have seen a obgyn and your healthy then the ovulation kit might be of great help. I know my sister was on depo for 5 years and she thought she couldn't get pregnant so I gave her a kit and she was pregnant within two months. Best of luck
Good answer, I used the kit and got pregnant also..it took three months for me.
All great very informational answers! Kelly- by the way the only answer or
comment i ever made that went before the "board" to be reviewed was my
last comment to you, praising you on your good answer and career choice...
Go figger that out,,Call me anything, but collect! fondly, D.D.
What does that mean it before a board? I said thank you for that comment, it was very sweet! Hope you doing well d.d.

Which kind of kit did she take
Can you please give me the name of the ovulation kit you brought?
What was the name of the ovulation kit?
Getting pregnant isn't as easy as it may look. 6 Months of trying after depo isn't a long time. Your body has to get regulated again, then you have to hit the timing right.
Six months isn't a long time to be off this powerful medication, especially with the severity of side effects you had. I suggest giving your body time to adjust. Having your period back for only three months isn't long, but it is an encouraging sight. It can take quite awhile for your body to regulate itself, as this is a powerful medication that makes sure you can't get pregnant!! It takes some time to release it's hold on your normal body rythms. Many people have successful pregnancies after being on Depo Provera. You're doing well - you're young - make sure you eat right, get enough sleep, treat your body well and you'll get pregnant. Your body just needs some time to be normal! Best wishes - ElizaJane
