Poppy02; It is a good sign that you have had a few good days this can happen, In eighter case, The way this medication works is when most people first start it you could have some kinds of help but for week 1 thru 2 in most cases many people even have an increase in your symptoms that this medication is to help. and then you continue to take this medication every day about the same time and slowly you start to feel better from any side effects and start to get some relief. But to reach the full benefits of the medication you really won't know for sure until you get to week 6 to 8 which depending on the person that is how long it takes to reach the full blood level of the medication. These are very confusing because some people have no side effects at all and other have at least 3 or so for the first 2 weeks. and gradually get better but we are all different, And some doctors may increase your dose after you have been on it depending on what dose you started on this way if the up it from a lower dose to higher dose the side effects are not nearly as bad doing it that way. Hope that we'll help you out. And also there is like anything the chance the doctor may have to add something with this medication or change it all together but it takes a while to decide if you are going to get the results you need from this one, But because you are feeling a bit of a change now hopefully this well be the one that you well get some results from. Have a good evening.
At day 7 it hasn't had time to reach steady levels in blood stream. That takes 2 weeks when you usually feel a difference. But you should keep having continued improvement. By 6 weeks probably feel a big difference. And 3 months for maximum results.
I agree it takes a while to start to work. How many mg are you taking ? Im on 25mg for two weeks plus I take cymbalta 60mg. I'm feeling better less anxious and less racing thoughts but I also take a low dose of klonopin to help with the anxiety twice a day. I'm gonna ask my dr to go up in mgs of the Zoloft when I see him next. Hang in there it will get better
I agree in principle with most of what you say but that does not apply to 100% of the people who take this class of medication; Clinical studies by the original manufacturer and other third party's studies show that the actual success rate, as define as an improvement in primary symptoms is actually around 65%. If everything worked as advertised for everyone (without exception), we would only ever have to try one type of medication ever.
While that is true for some people where they get lucky almost immediately, others of us have a journey lasting for decades.
I really just wanted to make the point that with psychiatric medications, there are no guarantees.
I do, however, wish the OP every bit of luck with success. :-)
Actually I think results can continue Beyond three months.
