I have been smoke free for 3 years (smoked 50 yrs), but now I can't
give up the lozenges. I have been told that these are as dangerous as
smoking--is that right? Also I am having extensive dental work done, would using the lozenges be the problem?
What are the dangers of using Nicotine Lozenges for 3 years?

The nicotine can still cause problems with your heart and circulation. You've cut out the tars and other poisons by not smoking, but the nicotine is still harmful.
These are to prevent smoking. They are for short term use. You remain addicted to nicotine. So they can cause cancer, mouth, throat, esophageal stomach, you name it.
Don't know how often you have dental work, but smoking does damage the teeth, mouth and tongue. Your dentist should alert you to any additional problems he may see. It would also be a good place to ask about quitting the lozenges.
Please see a physician and have a thorough checkup. There are far better ways to prevent smoking. Although I do applaud the lack of cigarette use, your health needs to be protected. And you will finally be done with it! Good luck in the final quit.
