I have been given Saxenda by my Doctor to help with weight loss. I am not Diabetic but do have Thyroid issues and losing weight by just dieting is very tough. My questions are
A) How can I get Saxenda without the $1100 price tag? Does the Dr have to give a prescription for it? Right now I have a sample of it.
B) How long does a sample last?
The cost of Saxenda too high?

My sample was only 17 days worth. It should tell you on the sample package and the doctor should have discussed that with you. My sample also came with a discount card. It is suppose to make the drug a lot cheaper but I haven't tried it yet.
The discount card is only worth $200.00. I hope you can afford the difference. I could not.
the saxenda saving card $200 per month for those with out of pocket or $30 max a month with insurance. The other person provided disinformation. When ever you see symbol "/" it denotes per i.e. $30/max month is $30 per month max.
I think it's 30 days. I'm trying to find out what Health Insurance Company will cover it. I have Highmark-they won't cover it and UPMC won't cover it.
What is wrong with these Health companies?? I thought Obesity was a recognized disease.
The sample is only 17 days in duration. My insurance company did not cover it either. The savings card that comes with the sample is only worth $200.00. This did not help me because the insurance company wanted to charge me $1380.00 and the $200.00 did not help because I still could not afford the remaining balance of $1180.00. I did contact the makers of Saxenda, Novo Nordisk, and several representatives suggested that I have my doctor contact the sales rep for Saxenda and just simply ask for the samples in quantity for her office. So far, she has not made any arrangements with the sales rep and it has been over four weeks. If anyone is interested, the number to Novo Nordisk is 1-800-727-6500 ask to speak to Loren. Perhaps if the company gets enough requests, the powers that be may lower the cost of the drug. It is so unfair that when consumers find something that works - it did work for me, I lost 11.6 lbs in the 17-day sample use - that we are then unable to afford what works. Best wishes in your weight loss journey.
