My son has taken concerta xl for 2 years with good effect regards to his adhd. .
His concerta was then changed to xenidate..
The difference in his behaviour was awful he became very unsettled.unable to focus. .stuttered.very twitchy..scared..could hear and see things..
After 4 days of taking this medication it was stopped..
Concerta and Xenidate are both methyphenidate. To look at a list of drugs for ADD/ADHD go here:

I have to guess that the suggested change must mean there is some difference between the 2 drugs. I recommend you ask the Dr. about this. I had 3 sons on methyphenidate with good success, but every child's body won't react the same with each drug.
I highly recommend you go to a Dr. who has chosen to specialize his/her practice in ADD/ADHD children. They are invaluable resources for all aspects of these disorders including school and home methods of teaching, discipline and general knowledge about making your child successful. C.H.A.D.D. is an excellent organization for information and help for you and your child.
