Benzodiazepines do help with GAD, panic attacks etc. they work remarkably well for a while. Unfortunately 50 years of research shows how dangerous they can be as they cause dependence and tolerance. For some people it may only take a few weeks and they are unable to wean themselves off of benzodiazepines afterwards because each attempt to reduce their dosage causes withdrawal symptoms. Some people find these symptoms intolerable so they remain on their benzodiazepines, add another one, forced to turn to other psychiatric drugs such as tranquilizers and so on, finding little relief. In spite of all the above mentioned negative, destructive effects of benzodiazepines they are still being prescribed to many people who are unaware of the problems they are about to face. The clonazepam container has a warning on it (at least in the US), it says FEAR. You would interpret that as a side effect that you need to be aware of. However, it is causes fear when you try to come off of it, and the fear is elemental fear. One you nevel felt before, not something one can comprehend. As others commented, you got your prescription for clonazepam to help you through getting on your SSRI medication to help with your initial side effects caused by the SSRI.
Hey, Kell!
It’s completely safe and effective to take SSRI with benzodiazepines. However, benzodiazepines should be taken short term and not long term. Doctors usually prescribe benzo with SSRI, because SSRI tend to increase anxiety during the first few days and weeks. In most cases, Taking benzo can lessen those symptoms until your medication kick in. Viibryd will work for you. You need to give the medication time. These medication don’t work overnight. It’s a process that takes weeks or months. Hang in there, be patient. Eventually the wait will be worth it.

Once again, good job. I would re-emphasize your statement that benzodiazepines are indicated only for short term use (less than six weeks) because of the danger of habituation and potentially serious long term side effects.
Season's Greetings to you, my friend, and to all!
Thanks my friend. :)
I agree Klonopin (a benzo) was great to get me to accepted level of an SSRI which is normally 2-3 weeks.
