I am unsure if I have herpes as I haven’t been tested yet but I received clobetasol propionate for scalp treatment. Is it safe to use it anyways?
Is clobetasol propionate safe to use if you have herpes?

So many of us are diagnosed without the doctor doing a biopsy of the sore. I was told 4x I had herpes from doctors doing a visual inspection. After 3yrs I learned I don’t have it & actually have a rare disease called Behcet’s. Others who have been misdiagnosed have had Lichens or Crohn’s disease. Clobetasol is a steroid & takes inflammation away & is used for the other conditions I mentioned. I have never heard of clobetasol being used for herpes. If the doctor prescribed clobetasol & they are aware of any others meds you are on then yes I would say it’s safe to use.
No it is not the medication you need do not use it for herpes, it belongs to the drug class of corticosteroids.
You need to be tested once you have had an outbreak and need an antiviral medication, Valacyclovir is the choice of drug to treat herpes, but it has to be prescribed by a Dr..
