I am on the pill (Solia) and my partner and I had unprotected sex 2 days ago.....I need to start antibotics (Metronidazole Gel ) for VD but was wondering if I should wait because of possibility of making the pill less effective of and if so how long?
Also I have not been able to find any information on the Gel specifically and wondering if it does effect birth control effectiveness at all since it is topical and not oral?

Answers
Metronidazole gel is unlikely to affect your birth control. Absorption is minimal because it is being applied topically.
If you are concerned and want to take precautions you should use another method of contraception eg condoms while using the gel and for one week after finishing treatment.
