I am currentely taking xanax for anixety and was put on the z pak for a sinus infection.The interaction checker said no interactions.But another site said yes interaction.Pharmacy is closed SO I CAN'T CALL THEM... I hope someone may have an answer.. I need both of these medicines... Thank's

Thank you for the clarifacation. I WAS WRONG!!! about the prednisone. Since you are in the midst of a sinusitis bout, the nasal wash will only have any effect if you wash twice a day. This represents the human body water chemical composition. Think of it simply as seawater going up your nose.
In spite of nose sinus surgery I* started year of 1998 with a bacterial infection the had eroded the sinus bone and had implanted in the bone. I started my nasal wash in 2000 and have never had a subsequent sinus infection.
Two common mistakes: DO NOT USE IODIZED SALT. I have and it hurts like hell; leave the mouth open and do not pinch your non-flushing nostril.

Hi granny50 and gallowsglass,
Is a lavage anything like a 'netti pot'? My husband suffers terribly from sinus problems and his doctor told him to buy a netti pot (not sure if I am spelling that correctly) to clear his sinuses. He has been using saline spray, which has worked great for several years, as opposed to a sinus spray like afrin, and he is on the hunt for this netti pot now. Do either of you know if one can be purchased at any pharmacy?

I have neve used a netti pot, but I have been told they work like a nasal lavage.
If you read my entire post I have had surgery for 3 broken noses. Since it worked for me I recommend it highly. Besides putting this together is a loot easier than finding a netti pot. Try a natural foods store for a netti pot.

I took 50 mgs per day of prednisone for 13 years. This woulod be 5 mgs less than the typcal dosage in a standard Z pack. From 13-26 I ploayed contact sports to take out my aggressions. Each person reacts differently to medications based upon their personality. My reading of the literature on both drugs, I had typical side effects from both drugs. Unfortunately I had a simle side effect ot the pred. It made my bad temper worse and my high strung personality more high strung.
I took both at the same time. I hated the prednisone, but it was the only drug that kept me alive. Do not give in to the temptation to take more xanax as the prednison will amplify your panic disorder. Based kon my prednisone experience, putting out a fire by throwing gasoline upon it, the prednisone in itself will make you think you are suffering an intense panic attack.
I had sinus infections from 3 broken nosed. By using the nasal lavage faithfully everyday I have solved my sinus infections.
Therfore take both, but know that the prednisone will make your high strung personality more high strung.
Only increase your xanax dose if prescribed by a physician.

I completely missed 'prednisone' on this question. And I reread it, I still do not see prednisone.

Every Z pack I ever took contained prednisone. I suffered with sinus infections which prenisone treated. Question did not mention Z pack medication. Ergo, I answered the question based my personal experience. If the writer fails to define the medication in the Z pack I answered the question honestly and accurately based on personal Experience.

Thanks for understanding my viewpoint. A Z pack merely describes the package with a built in taper. It has no connection with the type of med it contains.
If you suffer sinus infections follow up with my comment.
I had sinus infections from 3 broken nosed. By using the nasal lavage faithfully everyday I have solved my sinus infections. It may take 14 days to be effective.

Z-pack = Azithromycin, an antibiotic that is taken for five days.
