I have been on clonazapam for three years and have yet to touch a drop of alcohol. I miss the fact that I can't have a glass of wine for a special occassion at dinner... My doctor said that I could but not to take my pill at night. I only take .25 in the morning and .25 in the evening... I just split a .05 a day. Does any else ever have a glass of wine or a drink? I am just afraid because I feel ok with drinking and I do not want to mess anything up.
Can I have a glass of wine while on clonazepam?

I just started talking clonazepam 0.5mg and I was wondering the same thing..will it be ok to have 1 glass of red wine a day
I can only share that I ocassionally have a glass of wine or champagne on special occassion and I take 0.5 mg of clonazepam twice a day. I have had no problems as long as I only have one or two glasses, no more. But I must say that it is best to always follow your doctor's recommendations.
Don't think you will mess anything up, it will just make you sleepier than usual and can cause a depression in respiration and heart rate. As long as you don't overdo though, this shouldn't be a problem.
Thank you Laurie... that does help me a lot and I will make sure just to have one and a very small one at that... I will not drive of course and I may even just be home with friends. I really do miss the socialization of having a glass of wine but my health is much more important. Thank you for your quick reply!
you are welcome
I drink more than one glass of wine, sometimes four or five, and I have been waking up very early feeling like my whole body is on fire.
I get up, walk around, things seem to settle, so I am going to skip the evening pill, see what differance that makes??
I take clonazepam every night, I wasn't told not to drink and always have a glass of wine with dinner, occasionally more if we go out. No negative consequences at all.
I take 1.5 mg sometimes 2 it depends on how fast your metabolism is. Mine is quick so my liver cleans up anything fast from staying hydrated and exercising:) but I don't push two glasses. ;) look up cyp450 for more details:)
Been on clonazepam 0.5 x 3 for three months. Have not had a drink of alcohol since. Was drinking everyday for past several years. Been great, feel great.
Going on vacation in Nov, would like to have a cocktail on the plane? Yes/no
To pmstudio1. I have very little faith in doctors and generally check drug interactions online before making my own 'controlled. experiments. I can drink as much while using Clonazepam as I would if I were not taking it, however your weight, age, sex, metabolism and other factors will impact how your body reacts. Everyone is different. I take 1 mg. at night, am female, late 60s and a normal to slim weight. I would caution you though, that alcohol has more of an impact at higher elevations. Is it worth ruining your vacation? If you really want that cocktail why not try one small drink before you fly, if that goes well, the next day try two, that may be more likely to imitate the result of drinking at a higher elevation. Good luck.
Hi. I’m on Clonazepam 1 mg 3 x day. I cannot get to sleep without a glass of wine. Sometimes it turns into 2 glasses. SO FAR - after about 3 years, I’ve Had no adverse symptoms... but my doctor does warn me against it.
