You can not split, chew or crush a pill that is SR (sustained release), it must be swallowed whole. SR pills release an even amount of the medication for a determined period of time into your bloodstream so the effect of the medication is sustained in your organism making this a long acting medication.
The reason is that if you split, chew or crush an SR pill formulation, too much of the medication is released at once causing a fast intake of a high dose by your organism making it dangerous for you.
As Wildcat says, do double check with your Pharmacist/Chemist.
Thank you for your response. The 75 bupropion is not Sustained Release. It’s IR immediate release. Does that make a difference?
Yes, IR formulations can be split, I referred to Sustained Release (SR) as your post mentions "Bupropion SR 75mg." and you are welcome.
Some tablets can be split but it's not recommended for others. Your pharmacist can tell you which yours is.
