My doc has prescribed Valtrex 500 mg. once a day for suppression of cold sores and shingles. It seems to work but gives me a headache for several hours after i take it so I'm having trouble figuring out the best time of day to take it. Can anyone comment on what works for you?
Best time if day to take valtrex?

If you're getting headaches from the Valtrex (a common side effect of the drug), the time of day you take it may not make a difference in reducing the headaches. You may want to ask your doctor about switching to Zovirax (Acyclovir) or Famvir (as some people find it 'milder' side effect wise than Valtrex). It depends on which is best for YOU personally. I experienced headaches with Valtrex, but on Acyclovir I haven't had this issue--and it is also used to treat shingles.
Best!
Calm seas; The main thing is to take it about the same time each day whatever works best for you but stick to that time be it night like around bedtime or in the morning just don't alternate back and forth keep it at one time or the other
