I have been on the sertraline (zoloft) for three years. The dose is up to 125mg. Tomorrow I know its going up but I wanna ask if there might be another med that would work in harmony with the sertraline to better the depression and anxiety. It just doesnt feel like its working anymore. BUT not counteract with my adhd med adderall xr. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks all

Hello rawboots! Yes, there are many different antidepressants available to treat depression and anxiety. You should wait until the increased dise you are starting makes any difference. I have been on Zoloft for years now but I had to go up to 200 mg so that my symptoms can be controlled. You may need another medication added for your anxiety. Make sure that you let our doctor know if the Zoloft is not helping your anxiety. I hope that things work out for you. Take care! Sweetie Pie
I did not like pristiq! I liked cymbalta okay but as for what goes with what your taking I agree with pledge... lol.
Hello rawboots. Perhaps the increase in the zoloft is just what you need. you know, a tweek, slight adjustment. You've been on it for 3 years at the same dose. Well, you're limited as to what you can take. Adderall, as you know an amphetamine, is usually not taken when it comes to mixing the ssri's or snri's. But zoloft (ssri) and you've been on it for three years. With basically, the same possible side effects as to when you are taking zoloft and adderall, I'd suggest the sister drug prozac, or paxil. (ssri) My choice would be prozac. best to you rawboots, and have a goodday.pledge.
Thanks Pledge. I appreciate it. I will take that into consideration when I talk to my doc. I have taken paxil before and I really didnt like it. Im a 34 yr old male. Lets just say that med turned me into a flaccid zombie !!! Man, I had no feelings. At that time my gram passed away (didnt really know her) but to see my mum cry always makes me cry. Nope, not that day. Paxil, outa the question. I'd never taken prozac. I will bring this up. Thank you.

Ok rawboots. No paxil, I wouldn't either if I reacted like that. Best wishes, be well friend.
Hey rawboots,
You might ask the doc about a low dose of Wellbutrin. Although there is potential for interaction with the adderall if you have a history of seizures, at a low dose this is unlikely to occur. I take Wellbutrin with my antidepressant, Pristiq, with excellent results.
I took the liberty to add these mediactions to the interactions checker and the following link describes the potential for interactions:
https://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=2057-0,190-1644,440-203
Keep in mind these are potential interactions, not certain, and your doctor is the best to advise.
Best wishes,
Laurie
Great anser Laurie, my hubby is & was on 100mg of Zoloft, & was getting pretty grouchy, so doc added Wellbutrin 75mg & almost an instant overnite change in him. Don't know for sure if it was the Wellburtrin or my threat to whoop him one, (just kidding)but he had done so much better. They had to start him at a lower dose because he is a diabetic & it can raise your glucose, but is doing just fine. Good luck to you...

Thanks for taking the time and answering my question. Wellbutrin was actually the first med I was ever put on. I was up to the max dosage with limited results so my doc felt it was necessary to stop taking it. I had no problems, no withdrawals, nothing. Thats when it was changed to the zoloft. Started taking that immediately. Low dose ofcourse. I like it. It has improved my quality of life but I feel the quality once again slipping away. Its a struggle. Thanks again. I will keep n touch once I see what the doc has in mind. Bye
