I was given a one dose of azithromycin and was given improper directions for it so I took only one pill to later find out I was supposed to take them both at the same time. When I got in from work which was approximately 15 hrs in between I took the second pill. My question is will it still work?
Will azithromycin work if taken hours apart for chlamydia?

You need to take both pills at the same time to cure the STD, contact your Dr. and explain the misunderstanding.
