Was reading reviews for trazodone, and some people say that there is "window" of when you must take it regarding insomnia. Not currently taking any medication besides this, but may start sertraline soon. If you have trouble staying asleep, do you take it 30 minutes before sleeping? Or do you take it as soon as you start getting sleepy, then hit the lights off to fall/stay asleep?
Anyone have tips for using trazodone for insomnia?

Hi. :) I couldn't figure out how to ask a new question so thought I'd try on here. I was just wondering how people do on 150 mg of trazodone. My doctor wants to up the dosage and the problem I am having is 100 mg doesn't keep me asleep but 5 hours. Would a higher dose keep me asleep longer? Any comments would be nice. Thank you.
I used to take it and I took it 20 to 30 mins before bed.

I was advised when I was first put on the drug to eat a small meal or snack when taking it. I know—right before bedtime! It is a game changer for me. If I don’t eat something it doesn’t seem to work. I started out on 100mg then bumped up to 200mg. I’ve been on it for years. Does add some weight on you, but if you eat something, it will work. Best wishes for a good night sleep! I have not found a window of time, I just know that if I take it too early the sleepiness will wear off. I take it and go to bed.
