My doctor has prescribed trazodone for insomnia but I’m afraid to take in because of the danger of serotonin uptake syndrome? Has anyone had this reaction from this combo? I take 150 mg of Zoloft daily. Thank you in advance. I’m very unsure what to do.
Trazodone - How many of you take Zoloft for depression as well as trazodone for insomnia.

I’ve taken 50 mg of Trazodone together with all sorts of SSRIs, including up to 200 mg of Zoloft. No safety issues.
Hi, Nietza!
Since serotonin syndrome is relatively rare and easily treated at the early stages most likely your doctor has evaluated you and your medical history and decided that the benefits of these two medications far outweigh the risk.
Insomnia alone can cause serious physical and mental health disorders including increased depression and should be treated aggressively. Trazodone might be a good choice for you rather than the standard sleep medications which carry a lot of bad side effects for many people.
I took this combination for several years and had no problems with it. Did you discuss your concerns with your doctor? Perhaps they could explain better why they feel you should start this medication.
Best regards and I hope you start getting some restful Zzzz's very soon.
