I, like others, go a week or longer without a BM and when I do have one the stool is very hard and I strain excessively. Miralax does help me but it makes my body feel extremely cold. When I had my last colonoscopy, after drinking the gallon prep, I was so cold I was shaking uncontrollably and ended up in the ER. I am gluten free, fructose free, and dairy free--anyone else with these issues? Also, curious whether there is any type of sugar in Miralax.
Has anyone had a problem with feeling cold after using Miralax?

Absolutely yes! This is the third time I have had a colonoscopy and the second time that I have reacted badly. Freezing cold--wearing a sweat suit, bathrobe, blanket and sitting in font of the fireplace shaking. (It's May 15!). I was wondering if I should have gone to the hospital. Finally, I vomited what could only be described as a jellyfish. I have no diet restrictions and am in good health.
The only ingredient in miralax is polyethylene glycol. The experience you had when you took the prep could have been shock from drinking so much fluid so fast and /or having a large amount of stool rapidly. It could have also been vagal stimulation due to the bowel movements.
I agree with your assessment of the episode before the colonoscopy but that does not explain why Miralax affects my body each time I take a daily dose. I drank last night before bedtime and today I am freezing. I have also been told I have prediabetes and wonder if the Miralax has any type of sugar that would affect my symptoms and rise in glucose levels.
I answered the question about sugar by saying that polyehtylene glycol is the only ingredient. There are no inactive ingredients in it.
KM is right. And as a dietitian I can say with 100% certainty, mirilax will not effect glucose levels at all. What are your fasting glucose levels? Have you had an A1c? Are you drinking mirilax in ice cold water. Maybe you're having hypoglycemic reactions? Unrelated to the mirilax. I'd try drinking it in room temp liquid, water if your ptediabetic as you want to eliminate all sugar containing beverages now!!! Just looked it my food/med interaction book and feeling cold is not a symptom. I think it may have more to do with pre-DM, especially if you're taking it in juice it other sugary beverages. Best!
I am doing this prep now and am feeling very cold. I had to turn up the heat. It could be because the gatorade is ice cold but I am not certain because I drink cold water all day long and it doesn't effect me this way.
