Yes, my ears are ringing still, two weeks after stopping Contrave. At first I noticed things seemed to be louder, booming. Then a constant high pitched ringing with a lower whirring sound. I stopped taking the Contrave after realizing it may be an adverse effect. It hasn't eased up at all.
I'm on my 5th dose of Contrave, with just one pill a day. I am having headaches and ringing in my ears. I called my pharmacy and they said both were a side effect and to contact my Dr. I did and she told me to quit taking it. So not sure if she is going to try something else. This is so frustrating.
Thank goodness I found this. I was starting to think I was going deaf or had a brain injury. The nausea is bad but this ringing is horrible. I hope it goes away.
Yes. I was about to tear out my wall in order to find the sound.
Yes, I was wondering what was going on. I asked a group of friends if they had this issue. One said he did and saw the doctor. He said to accept it. It won't go away. So, I went online to look for treatments (B12 is suppose to help), but while researching read that you should check your medications. Contrave is the only thing I take besides supplements. I am glad I saw this post. I have about 3 weeks left on it and I'll be hopeful it will go away. The medication does make me feel full. One other weird thing is that I feel my tongue is swollen or too big for my mouth. Has anyone experienced this or am I going nuts?
I have been on Contrave for about 6 weeks. about 2 or 3 weeks ago, I heard a whoosh sound in my ears. It is constant. I am taking 2 morning and 2 evening. I have never had hearing issue and I don't abut my ears with loud sounds. My husband suggested it might be due to a med (he's a doctor). I decided to check this and was surprised that others are having the same issue. I will call my primary tomorrow.
Yes! First I thought maybe I was sensitive to sound. I am getting headaches (migraines) a listed side effect. Nothing listed for tinnitus. I'm glad you posted this. I was beginning to wonder. And yes, it's annoying.
I have never heard of this side effect. Very weird. But then again, anytime I feel something different in my body I attribute it to the medicine, even though that might not be the case. For a solid week my head itched like crazy and as soon as I started scratching it, it would get worse. I thought I had lice! Thank goodness I didn't. :-) However, I did have more itching that started on my back and legs, not like a rash, just a strange "I need to scratch" feeling and once I would start to scratch my itch, the itch would get worse and continue for several minutes. It wasn't a dry skin type of itch. Strange. Due to medicine?? Who knows. But at least it went away.
Me too! Especially if I am in quiet room or laying down for the night it gets really bad.

The ringing is so loud I can’t think.
