I've been taking meclizine for over a year for vertigo. It only works when you can get to it. Meclicine is antivert, the same thing you get over the counter for sea sickness. The doctors aren't sure what is causing my vertigo. They think it is MAV, or Migraine Associated Vertigo. It has awakened me out of a sound sleep, and also hit me in mid-stride, literally. I've tried taking the Meclizine before I go out. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. More often, it doesn't.
It is not cumulative, that is, it does not build up in your system. You have to take it when you have an attack. I'm not sure if this is helpful or not. I hope it helps more than the meclizine has helped me, which is not a lot.
It should work within an hour of taken the mediaction. It might take some time for the medication to start working (A week or 2.) If nothing happens I would recommend talking to your doctor about it and trying something else. I hope this helps. Good luck to you!
Thank You!!
