I started taking 5 mg of Lexapro 6 days ago. I started taking 50mg trazodone and 7.5mg Buspar 5 days prior to that. 2 days after starting Lexapro I started getting burning sensations in my skin. My skin feels hot, like it has been scalded in hot water or sunburned. Sometimes it is worse than others. I feel it on my arms, hands, scalp and back, and occasionally on my feet. I haven't felt it on my legs. Has anyone experienced this?
Did anyone experience a burning skin sensation when starting Lexapro?

Hey Devorose did your tingling and burning sensation go away? This is my second week on lexapro and I have it. I’ve been on it before and never experienced it but this tile around I have it and it’s annoying.
Hi how are you making out with the burning sensation I started it for a day and it was terrible for me . My scalp chest back was on fire I’m thinking of not taking the pill anymore
I only took one dose of Lexapro. It woke me up in the night with a terrible burning across my shoulders and neck, sometimes up to my head. It continued throughout the next day. between that and the fact I could hardly muster the energy to get off the couch for two days, I insisted on trying a different anxiety medication.
Hope your symptoms are more mild and fade quickly!
Thanks for your response. I just noticed it this morning. I quit taking the Lexapro. The intense burning stopped, but I still feel like I have sunburned skin whenever I get hot or anxious. I have been tapering off the trazodone. Now I am waking up in the middle of the night with hot flushes and night sweats. I am hoping this eventually goes away as the trazodone leaves my system. Have you had any luck?
Please let me know how u are doing... I want to slowly come off both as well !
I have been off of all medications and have been practicing deep breathing with my hand on my abdomen. Any time I am feeling anxious, I do that. It has helped. I also spray my face with rosewater when I wake up with a panicked feeling in the middle of the night. It helps a lot. I still deal with anxiety, but all of the side effects of the medicine have gone completely away since I stopped taking them.
Thank u so much for your update. Did you experience any numbness in hands/fingers and or tongue ?
I’m glad ur able to cope without meds,, I’m struggling with these things !
I definitely felt numbness with hands and feet for sure. I am not sure about the tongue. I want to say yes. I do think all those symptoms can be caused by anxiety itself. It is hard to accept that when you are scared, I know. I also know that I become hyper aware of all bodily sensations when I am anxious, especially when I am afraid of taking a new med and concerned about side effects. I think numbness or tingling comes when I am not breathing properly, like almost a hyperventilation state.
Thank you again. Take care of yourself.
