Has anyone tried Breckenridge generic Xanax a.k.a. Alprazolam. How is it & what pharmacy has it?

The Breckinridge generic Xanax is absolute garbage. It is not equivalent. It does not work. CVS is providing it. I was prescribed the brand name Xanax and it did what it was prescribed to do for years. When my insurance stopped covering brand name drugs if generics were available, Pharmacies filled my RX with Sandoz or Mylan generics which both were almost as effective as the brand name Xanax. I transferred my rx (after receiving and taking the Breckenridge 'placebo for more than a month) to another pharmacy because I had a coupon that made it affordable. The other brand also was effective to some degree. I have requested CVS to fill it with any brand other than Breckenridge. Now, I am back to CVS because I do not have a coupon that makes an effective generic affordable. If CVS can not get me any brand other than Breckenridge; I will fill the rx at another pharmacy, even if I have to pay for it. The Breckenridge generic should not be on the market. Others have told me of the same type of ineffectiveness of this generic. Terrible.
I tried Breckinridge brand didn’t do a thing for me. I requested my refills be filled using the previous brand.
My pharmacy (Kroger) just gave me this new football shaped 0.5mg alprazolam by Breckenridge. It's not the same as the round ones (can't remember manufacturer)
I've been taking round ones for a year now. I would normally just take 1 round one when anxiety attack starts. However, I took 1 Breckenridge pill about 3 hours ago, felt nothing. Heart was still racing & pupils still dilated. I took another one & not much relief. I should be really sleepy with 2, but I'm not feeling it! I don't know what's up, but I don't want to run through these, as I'm only prescribe #60 a month.
I'm going to call Kroger tomorrow. This is very odd... I don't like it..
Just started getting these from CVS in Chicago. I'm not sure what manufacturer they used to use (which in my opinion were much better), but these barely work for me. They seem weak and don't help my anxiety well. They are good sleeping pills however.
Alprazolam is a good drug for anxiety but very short acting (about 4hrs. the max.) It is not very effective for insomnia long term.
The Dava pharmaceutical ones are much better in my opinion. I tried the Breckenridge ones and they're weak. They seem to just make me tired without calming my anxiety. I noticed the difference right away. I really don't think it's my imagination either. The pharmacist at CVS didn't even try to convince me that there was no difference. She just asked where I wanted them to get them from, then ordered them for me.
I was prescribed alprazolam pills from Breckinridge, they do absolutely nothing to curb anxiety. I thought they had prescribed me sugar pills! I have since switched brands and am so relieved to have done so!
Yes; I deal with CVS & they no longer can get the ones from Par Pharmaceuticals that worked so well - it is Breckenridge now & they do absolutely nothing for me! Pharmacist practically laughed in my face when I told him they do not work:( I can see from this forum that I am not the only one having issues with this brand!
Changed to Walgreens, they have Actavis manufactured, wow, nice difference. All CVS wants is your money for crap drugs. When you need this stuff, it's all about help, not money. Check with your local Walgreens.
No lie!
I totally agree with you! It is like taking a placebo (Sugar pill). Breckenridge generic xanax is a JOKE!!!
I have been using that brand for the past few months prescriptions I have had. I get mine sent to CVS in New York. I have tried most other generics at some point, and I would say Breckenridge compares pretty well, even on my relatively high dosage. Works fast and seems pretty potent. Not the best generic I've had, but a solid choice.
Hi. I actually just started taking that brand two days ago. I was on Dava before that. They say that all generics have the same amount of active ingredient but these do seem a bit different to me. A little less potent which I guess isn’t really such a bad thing. Of course this could all be in my mind as I’m an anxious person so any change at all makes me nervous. Let me know what you think of them.
What pharmacy has them?
Can I ask who you want that particular manufacturer?
I got mine at CVS.
I'm taking Breckinridge brand Valium and alprazolam. They do the job for me! I'm using CVC pharmacy in IL.
Take care!
Please DO NOT kid yourself. Breckenridge generic xanax is like taking a placebo (Sugar pill) you will see over the months it does absolutely NOTHING to help calm anxiety. I even more upset because I take their medication and no relief or decrease in anxiety. It's a Strong NO for me. Never Again.
Breckenridge Pharmaceutical and Plano Pharmacy in Texas uses them.
