How long have any of you been on a small dose of this medication? I have OCD, PSTD, anxiety, depression and an autoimmune disease that is chronic and not pleasant. My doctor said I could take 0.5mg Ativan for an undetermined amount of time. I am 63 so realistically I feel it’s OK but would like to hear from others. I know all about addiction, dependence, tolerance, etc. but quality of life is important at this point.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
Has anyone take. Ativan for many years!?

I have been taking 1mg of Ativan twice a day for many years. I have not experienced any issues with tolerance, and for me it nearly always works quite well for my anxiety. There have been periods of time when I was without it and I did not notice any symptoms of withdrawal. I know that some doctors will not prescribe it long term, but because I have such a long history of taking it, my doctors don't consider it detrimental. I am 69, and you are on a lower dose, but if it works for you it sounds like you're doing okay. Of course if you have concerns, please have a conversation with your doctor.
